GENESIS CAPITAL
Genesis Capital is a private equity firm focusing on investments into small and medium sized companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Our investments take form of
- buyout financing - providing exit opportunities to leaving business owners or
- growth capital - providing expansion capital to successful fast growing companies.
The typical size of one investment is between € 2 million and € 9 million. We can also do larger investments above € 9 million with the use of co-financing by some of our investors.
Founded in 1999 and managed by the team of investment professionals, Genesis Capital is based in Prague and now manages its third fund - the Genesis Private Equity Fund II.
OUR FUNDS
After its founding in 1999, Genesis Capital became an advisor to the $ 20 million Czech and Slovak Private Equity Fund (the "CSPEF"). The fund's investors included the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Finance Corporation and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. At that time, Genesis Capital also covered the Czech and Slovak Republics as an exclusive affiliate of a global private equity firm Advent International.
In 2003, the Genesis team founded an independent fund, the Genesis Private Equity Fund.

Genesis Private Equity Fund
The Genesis Private Equity Fund (GPEF) was founded in 2003. The size of the GPEF is € 30 million, and its investors included the European Investment Fund (EIF, the venture capital arm of European Investment Bank), Česká spořitelna (the largest Czech bank and a member of the Erste Group), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Letterkenny Holdings Limited (investment firm managing assets of Mittal family). Over the period 2003-2008, the GPEF fund was fully invested into 12 portfolio companies, of which some have been already sold, while others still remain in the portfolio.
Genesis Private Equity Fund II
In 2009, the Genesis team completed the first closing of a new fund, the Genesis Private Equity Fund II. The initial size of the GPEF II is € 40 million, and its investors include the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Česká spořitelna, Gimv (a Belgium based private equity firm) and a major European bank. The target size of the fund is € 60 million.
GPEF II is now actively seeking opportunities for investments in the Czech and Slovak markets.
