The first closing of Genesis Private Equity Fund V (GPEF V) has been completed with EUR 225 million in commitments and clear visibility for the maximum hard-cap of EUR 295 million by the year-end. Already the first close makes it one of the largest private equity funds in Central Europe and represents a 50% increase on previous fund GPEF IV.

The new fund will build on Genesis Capital’s well-established investment strategy and 25 years of experience, targeting high-quality companies with strong growth potential headquartered in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, and newly also in Germany. Genesis Capital’s seventh fund will back entrepreneurs and management teams seeking suitable long-term partner to facilitate succession, drive expansion, or pursue new market opportunities, as well as managers in corporate carve-out situations, when global parent groups divest their local non-core business units. GPEF V will continue to invest across wide range of industries, with preference for sectors where Genesis funds have had a strong historical track record. These include B2B services, light and medium manufacturing, IT services and specialised retail, e-commerce and consumer-oriented services.

“GPEF V is the largest fund in the history of Genesis Capital, and we take this milestone with great respect and responsibility. Our goal remains unchanged - to support businesses with high potential and to partner with their leadership teams to realize new opportunities, through international expansion, strengthening their internal capabilities, or enabling growth and innovation. We believe in long-term partnerships built on trust and alignment, which is why we always invest alongside management and share both the risk and the reward,” says Ondřej Vičar, Managing Partner at Genesis Capital Equity.

Radan Hanzl, Partner at Genesis Capital Equity, adds: “Genesis Capital follows a clearly defined investment philosophy that has guided us successfully for years. Investment discipline and partnering with managers and founders remain cornerstones of our approach when we evaluate new opportunities and support our portfolio companies in reaching their full potential.”

At the time of first closing, GPEF V attracted commitments from 11 renowned institutional investors including international financial institutions, banks, insurance companies, asset managers and family offices, many of which have been cooperating with Genesis Capital on a long-term basis. Several other investors have already agreed to join GPEF V in the second half of 2025. It is expected that GPEF V will reach its maximum hard-cap of EUR 295 million by the end of this year.

“The GPEF V fundraising process was probably the fastest in Genesis Capital history. The continued support from our long-standing investors, along with the interest of new ones are based not only on the good results of our predecessor funds but also reflect trust in our continuous investment in our own growth and strengthening of Genesis Capital group. We are grateful for such partnership and trust. With GPEF V we will aspire to continue delivering attractive returns to our investors.” concludes Radan Hanzl.
